Community Connection

WHy?

Jesus taught us "to love our neighbor" and modeled how meals become places of belonging and transformation. In order to connect with the community, we make church visible and accessible through consistent, simple and relaxed gatherings that foster intergenerational relationships across ages, cultures and life experiences. In a world where many feel lonely and invisible, we create a safe, welcoming space to feel known, talk about real life and play together.

People are standing in buffet line for summer community picnic.

Summer Picnics

From 5:30 to 6:30pm for ten Thursdays each summer children, teens and adults show up, care for and connect with each other. Hosted by groups of volunteers, these free picnics create consistent connection points with no agenda or sign-ups for our friends and neighbors. Following each meal is an all-age activity like 9-Square-In-The-Air, scavenger hunts, laser tag, parachute games, art and science projects, etc. Invite friends and neighbors to connect, play and eat together.

Dinner Church

From 6:00 to 7:00pm on the 1st Thursdays of the month, September through May, connect with others during a free community meal with relaxed, facilitated conversation and simple, spiritual exploration of the stories about Jesus. If you're new to church, this is a place to begin to interact with God through accessible rituals and practices as we collaboratively engage in meaning-making through tactile storytelling of Jesus' life with open-ended wondering questions. Dinner Church is for all-ages so there are activities for our youngest to participate as well.
