First Presbyterian Church welcomes everyone to participate in any or all of our activities, large or small. We welcome you to invite others! It is our goal to strengthen our connections to God, church, family, the community, and to each other through these opportunities.
FPC coordinates rides to Sunday morning worship from several senior living complexes. Currently the only group pickup is at Boutwells, but if you live at other locations, a ride can be arranged for you. For more information contact Margaret.
Sunday pickup: 9 am at Boutwells (main or middle entrance at 5600 Norwich Pkwy) Return Home: 11 am. Rides are being provided by church members.
We installed an “electronic loop” which works with virtually any hearing aid, so anyone with a hearing disability can participate in the Sunday service as well as other activities. Our recently-renovated restrooms are ADA (American With Disabilities Act) compliant, ensuring safe, easy use.
We have a thriving Seniors Ministry, where being a “senior” is not just a matter of age! Through our deacons, we ensure that all seniors are contacted regularly, and encourage them to participate as they wish in any church activity. PRESBYTERIAN WOMEN (PW) is a
churchwide organization whose membership is open to all women. PW members are those who choose to participate in or be supportive of Presbyterian Women in any way. PW strives to reflect a vision of the whole church as a community of mutual interdependence in which diversity contributes to wholeness. PW gives strong support to the mission of the denomination and the local congregation, and determines its own leadership, program and budget. This congregation of women is a small, but vital part of a worldwide Christian community of women.

Women's Circles
All women and gender expansive people in the church community are invited to be in a Cirlce. Circles have 12-20 members and meet once a month during the school year for Bible study, social time and treats. Activities include social and mission emphasis. Contact the office for more information on PW activities and Circles.
Each summer volunteers come together from all walks of life to build stronger, safer communities. From fundraising through construction, this group builds two Habitat homes each year and repairs another through A Brush with Kindness. Whether you are an experienced Women Builder, a novice or have never built before, you are welcome. Tasks vary by site based on the progress at the site and the Habitat for Humanity staff teach us everything we need to know to successfully complete the work!
Groups that meet regularly can focus on evening Bible study; morning gatherings to discuss reflections on a reading that has moved, inspired or disturbed you; or groups dealing with grief, loss, loneliness, illness – just being in a safe, familiar environment, sharing your innermost thoughts and feeling. Annual Mens’ overnight retreats have been popular and valuable – it gives all participants to explore, and share, their faith and feelings in any of a number of outdoor and wilderness environments.!
The monthly Men’s Breakfast is held the morning of the second Saturday of every month. For four years and counting, we provide a full breakfast catered by members of FPC – donations towards food cost are appreciated, but not required. A different speaker is featured at each breakfast, who will present on any of a wide range of topics, from mental health issues, to supporting those in loss or transition, to faith journeys, to learning about other cultures and beliefs, to a new take on familiar biblical stories.
This is "Not-Just-A-Men's" event, so all genders are welcome!
Each Sunday morning after Worship (September-May), we offer interesting classes in the Dining Room that explore topics including Biblical studies, christian living, mission and justice, current events, etc..
U-Connect offers short-term weekly classes, book discussions, tours, creative experiences, service opportunities, progressive dinners, movie viewing, guided discussion groups, and more to help you learn, connect and have some fun! U-Connect opportunities vary and change frequently; they are limited to about 1 or 2 scheduled events per week.
Do you participate in worship services online? Would you like to get to know other people from FPC better? Consider joining us in a Zoom Gathering on Wednesdays at 10:00am. The time is spent socializing, sharing joys and prayer concerns, and reading and discussing the scripture that the sermon will be based on for the following Sunday. All are welcome at any time.
