Nursery
For the youngest children (infants through age 5), supervised nursery care is available during both Worship Services and during the Christian Education hour. Our Nursery staff provides a safe and welcoming environment for our young children.
Sunday Alive!
For children ages 3 through Senior Highs, we offer specially tailored Sunday School programs called Sunday Alive! At 10:00 a.m., children gather for 50 minutes of bible-focused learning. We encourage parents to volunteer in these programs or to attend one of the wonderful adult education opportunities offered during the Christian Education hour.
- 3, 4 and 5 Year Olds meet for a fun and varied time of learning using the Living the Good News preschool curriculum. They enjoy art projects, stories and play time together in Room 206.
- First through Sixth Graders meet in the Ark for a unique learning experience called “Workshop Rotation Model” (WoRM). Throughout the year, the children will be learning eight different biblical stories or concepts (4 weeks on each topic) by rotating through a variety of learning workshops (arts & crafts, video theater, drama & music, storytelling & games, science & cooking or computer). This year’s studies include Creation, Noah, Jesus’ Birth, Jesus’ Baptism, Miracle of the Loaves and Fishes, Last Supper/Communion and the Parable of the Good Samaritan. Special mission focused programs also occur throughout the year.
- 7th and 8th Grade Youth meet together in Room 102 for classroom and activity based learning with an emphasis on Bible stories using junior high focused curriculum and service projects.
- Senior High Youth (9th-12th Grades) meet together in the Upper Lounge for discussion based class using a variety of materials as well as service projects.
Children in Worship
We welcome children of all ages in worship at any time. We encourage children and youth to participate as lay readers, ushers, singers and helpers. For younger children, children’s worship bulletins and worship bags are available. You can find the worship bags hanging on hooks outside the Sanctuary. Please replace them on the rack at the end of the service. Children are especially invited to attend the first 15 minutes of worship, including the “Time for Children” and the choir anthem.
At the 8:30 service, children ages 5 and under may then stay for the rest of the service or be excused to go to the Nursery.
At the 11:00 worship service, we offer a special Children's Worship time for children ages 3 through 2nd grade. After the anthem, children who want to may be excused to participate in a special time of Bible Story learning. This is not meant to replace Sunday School, but to enhance their worship experience. After the sermon, they return to the sanctuary to participate in the remainder of the worship service with their parents. Children 5 and under may choose at that time to go to the Nursery.
