Pastor's Corner

Pastor - Paul Gilmore

The Rev. Gilmore comes to this community from Lincoln Illinois, where he has been pastor at First Presbyterian for the past ten years. Prior to that he had served other churches in Pennsylvania, Texas and Illinois. The Rev. Gilmore studied at Manchester College in Indiana where he received his BS and at Louisville Presbyterian Theological Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky where he received his M. Div. in 1983. He has written curriculum for Workshop Rotation Model of Sunday School, served as chair of the Peacemaking Committee for the PCUSA ( Presbyterian Church in the United States of America), and has traveled to Brazil as part of a Global Mission Task Force.

When being asked about theological issues facing the church today, he states, "The frightening world in which we now live offers little reason for optimism, yet the gospel gives us cause for hope. I believe the Presbyterian Church has a crucial role to play, offering a vibrant, engaged theology, and active social witness, a responsible stewardship, ecumenical commitment, and a gospel of transforming grace to the world. I envision a church where worship is the life-blood flowing through a welcoming, inclusive body that lives for mission and service."

The Gilmore family, which includes his wife, the Rev. Leta Herrington and sons, Andrew and Ben, have recently moved to Stillwater.

Pastor - April Davis Campbell

Rev. Davis Campbell arrives in Stillwater after having worked at Madison Avenue Presbyterian Church in New York City, and Westminster Presbyterian Church in Lincoln, Nebraska . Even though April spent three years in New Jersey for seminary, she still considers the Midwest to be her home. Hence, God's providence was indeed calling April back home to the Midwest, more specifically to Minnesota. April had lived, worked and volunteered in Lincoln, Nebraska until her departure to Princeton Theological Seminary.   She holds a Bachelor’s of Arts in Speech Communication from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln,  a Master’s of Public Administration from the University of Nebraska-Omaha, and a Master’s of Divinity degree from Princeton Theological Seminary in Princeton, New Jersey. While in seminary she worked part-time for the seminary’s Department of Christian Education and was a two-year seminary intern at Madison Avenue Presbyterian Church in New York City. At Princeton she was a three year recipient of a Presbyterian Leadership Award.   She completed a unit of Clinical Pastoral Education and  was a hospital chaplain for Alegant Health Systems in Omaha, Nebraska.

Prior to attending seminary April worked for the State of Nebraska Health and Human Services System, Financial Services Division as a program analyst in the area of long-term care doing data and statistical analysis. While working for the State of Nebraska, she spent her free time on various committees and task forces at the church and presbytery level as well as volunteering for the Lincoln Amateur Radio Club and the American Red Cross. She was Interim Director of Youth Ministries at her home church in Lincoln, Nebraska, co-directed week-long summer camps and retreats at Camp Calvin Crest, a Presbyterian affiliated camp in Fremont, Nebraska and wrote curriculum for summer camp.

In her spare time April enjoys running, reading, traveling,  and spending time with her husband Bob, their son Emmett, and their dog Daisy.   She feels very passionately about her call to ministry and loves the community of faith at First Presbyterian Church in Stillwater.   She finds great joy in serving God and the church and sees great hope in the life of the church and is motivated and enthusiastic to further God’s kingdom on earth.
